(Iconography on breathe!)

Breathe has many citations today. It is a well explained concept but the problem is that its been constantly explained as a concept. Pranayamas are given prime importance by stressing the benefits of doing it. Can a rope used to control a horse given prime importance even though it has importance. The same is the case with breathe practices. Just because we understand the need of breathe practices it doesn’t mean we have understood about the breathe it self.

What is breathe ?

Breathe is something we inhale, it originates from outside this body from the five elements of nature to this body made of five elements. We are embodiment of space starting our cycle from the element air and we dissolve in space when this element air disappears. Element of air symbolises the freedom and harmony, thats the sole reason why we try to attain liberation and bliss. This element of air is fine, what does it do to our body ?, just like in the world we see the fire is supported by air, same way the fire in stomach, fire in mind which is called CHITA all supported by this element. When we sleep and when we die the only difference is us breathing, this breathing happening in sleep keeps us alive because the fire of Chita is lit constantly. Only because of this fact we tend to correlate the activities of mind or the chattering of mind to an irregular breathe. Every element of fire in this body is nourished by this element air and the element earth. Element air is vitality and the element water is virility to us and the element earth acts as the bridge between the both.

The element air and its impact on the human body is fascinating one. In fact every element is fascinating, but the very start of the cycle relies on the air. Understanding pranayama is an attempt to understand know how to manipulate air and its impact on our body.
